Gloria Tuohy, MDE
Ms. Tuohy's career has spanned over fifty years of professional dance, teaching and artistic direction experience in England, Europe and the United States. She was trained in the prestigious French Cecchetti classical ballet syllabus. Ms. Tuohy is proficient in ballet, classical jazz and tap. She is proficient in Cecchetti and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), world renowned teacher-training programs. Ms. Tuohy is the only sponsor of this prestigious program in Northwest Indiana. In America, she is a Master Dance Educator through Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. She is the founder of the Indiana Ballet Theatre NW, Inc. known as IBT, a 501c3 non-profit ballet and contemporary dance company. Ms. Tuohy has choreographed nine full length original ballets that have been staged 40 times during the 36 years the company has existed.

Amanda Tuohy, CDE
Amanda Tuohy-Fuller is a founding member, instructor, choreographer and make-up artist for IBT. She has danced many featured roles in company productions. Amanda studied dance at Columbia College, where she majored in performance and choreography. Regularly teaching in both Chicago and NW Indiana, she has also taught at Northwestern University, C.A.S.T Summer program (Chicago) and KDA (Chicago). She teaches ISTD classes in Elementary and professional Perp divisions, including Jazz, Modern and Pointe for IBT.
Sara Eichmeier has been dancing since the age of 3, and has been a part of Indiana Ballet Theatre since she was 5. Sara has been casted in many ballets for IBT including "The Nutcracker", "Sleeping Beauty", "Cinderella", "Swan Lake", "Thumbelina", and "Copellia". She has been taught many styles of dance including ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical/contemporary. In April of 2013, Sara competed in the Youth Arts Award Competition. She was awarded 1st place for dance and was recognized for her hard work. Sara teaches at IBT for the preschool an primary ballet classes. In 2012, Sara auditioned for the Ballet Chicago dance intensive and was accepted to attend the two week advanced session. One day, she hopes to have the oppertunity to dance professionally in New York.
Outside of dance, Sara is an honor student at Valparaiso High School. She stays involved in school with Student Council and Track. Over the summer, she also was given the opportunity to travel to Germany, Austria, and Italy.
Annie Gensel is a current teacher and resident dancer at the Indiana Ballet Theater. She began formal training in gymnastics at two and dance training at three. Annie has studied: ballet, tap, modern, jazz, and lyrical. She has taught for several years at the studio and has a particular passion for choreography. One of her dances recently won first place in a regional dance competitions. Annie has danced in every production of the company for thirteen years. Her roles are diverse and have included: Marzipan, Spanish, and Chinese lead in The Nutcracker; Summer Fairy and Autumn Fairy in Cinderella; Ruby Fairy in Sleeping Beauty; and a Sister in Swan Lake.
Annie is in the undergraduate program at Purdue University Calumet majoring in Chemistry. She is also active on campus including the cheerleading squad and intramural volleyball.
At the age of 5, Shannon won the villages’ first-ever “Little Miss Oakwood Hills” title…all she wanted was the pretty crown, audience smiles and flowers that came with it. However, she also received a gift certificate for dance classes at The Dance Academy of Cary… and that began her life’s passion and joy for dance, particularly for ballet. Shannon received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May 2012 in Dance Performance from Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana), while achieving Dean’s List academic honors. Shannon has trained and performed with Ball State University Dance Theatre, The Barrington Dance Academy, Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble (BYDE), The Performing Arts of Spring Grove, Illinois Youth Dance Theatre (IYDT), and The Dance Academy of Cary. Her 19 years of dance training thus far includes Ballet, Pointe, Partnering, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Character, Pilates and Pedagogy, Nutrition and Repertory, with her main focus on Ballet. Performance highlights include The Sugar Plum Fairy for Ball State’s 2010 “Nutcracker”, Dew Drop Fairy for BYDE’s “Nutcracker”, along with other favorites in Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Joan of Arc, Coppelia and Graduation Ball to name a few. When Shannon has spare time, she also enjoys going into Chicago and taking classes at Lou Conte Dance Studio, and Visceral Dance Center to keep up with her technique.
Wendy Holland has been a member of IBT for over 20 years. Her credentials include certifications in Checcittti, and ISTD. She also has her Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation, specializing in Therapeutic Recreation, as well as an Indiana Teaching License. She currently teaches the foundation classes for our ballet students and company classes. She is also a 5th grade teacher at Porter Lakes Elementary School in Hebron, In. Her involvement with IBT includes dancing lead roles in many of our past performances, assisting with rehearsals, and choreographic work for the LEAP event. She is the mother of 3 children, Ashley and Sarah, and Jack.
Christie's love for dance began as a gymnast at the age of 4. She was told that she needed to take a few ballet lessons, a few turned into a life long passion. At the age of 7 she began dancing with Gloria Tuohy. She has performed with Indiana Ballet Theatre in numerous ballets, including The Nutcracker, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Coppelia, and Firebird. She toured with IBT to Disney World, France, Germany, England, Cancun and Cozumel Mexico. Christie received her BA in Dance from Columbia College, Chicago in 2005. While at Columbia, she studied with well-known performance artists and teachers internationally. She danced in Faculty and Student Concerts as well as presented her own choreography. Christie has been on Faculty with IBT for 5 years. She teaches Ballet and Modern and also choreographs for Company 1, 2 and the Trainees.
Julie Newman has been dancing for over 20 years. She began in her hometown at Broadstreet Dance Co. and in her early teens, she continued her training at The Ruth Page Foundation and Lou Conte Dance Studio in Chicago where she studied ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. Throughout her dance career, she performed in numerous shows and ballet’s including The Nutcracker with The Empire State Ballet, The Tulsa Ballet Theatre, Indiana Youth Ballet, and Ballet Legere, and danced for the IUN Dance Company in college. Accompanying her dance training she was also involved in singing, acting and modeling. In her late teens she was selected as the fifth member of a pop/R&B group “Endera” signed to Universal Records. As an “Endera” member she trained with choreographers such as Chris Flournois and Jamaica Kraft who have worked with artists P. Diddy, TLC and 3LW (now the Cheetah Girls). Julie has been sharing her love for dance by teaching and assisting for over 15 years at studios in the Chicagoland area, instructing workshops, choreographing and teaching private lessons. Currently, Julie is pursuing a B.S in Computer Information Systems at Indiana University Northwest and supplements her dance career by working at Dance Stuf Etc in Merrillville.
Kristy Victor has been dancing for twenty years under the training of Gloria Tuohy and Natalie Koloski. In 2002, Kristy traveled to London and recieved the highest honors in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing for her ballet certification. Kristy has danced many of the lead roles with IBT including: Cinderella, Fairy Godmother and Winter Fairy in Cinderella, Golden Fairies in Sleeping Beauty, and Dew Drop, Yellow Rose, lead Arabian, Marzipan and the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. Kristy also has a background in gymnastics in which she won three consecutive state titles. She has also been an instructor for NCA for the past five years.
Kristy is currently teaching dance and cheerleading during her spare time and she plans to complete her BS in nursing while continuing to pursue her life-long passion in dance.
