Our Company

Indiana Ballet Theatre Northwest, Inc. is a 501C3 not-for-profit organization established in 1980 under the artistic direction of Gloria Tuohy, MDE.

Gloria Tuohy’s career has spanned over forty years of professional dance, teaching, choreography and costume design in experience in England, Europe and the United States. She was trained in the prestigious French Cecchetti classical ballet syllabus, and is proficient in ballet, classical jazz and tap. She danced with the Volska Ballet Company in London England and the Surry Light Operatic Society of England. As founder and Artistic Director of Indiana Ballet Theatre(IBT) she has choreographed and produced 8 full length classical ballet productions that have been staged over 35 times during the 17 years IBT has been a non-profit organization.

Ballet Master/Co-Artistic Director, Eckhard Heidrich, trained with the Deutche Oper Berlin in Germany in the Vagonova classical ballet syllabus. His professional dance career has spanned Europe, Canada and the United States as soloist, principal dancer and guest artist. He has served on the faculty of several ballet company schools, including Ballet Austin, Kassel Staatstheatre Ballet in Germany, Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, Kansas City Ballet, Ballet West, Utahand San Angelo Civic Ballet, as well as several Universities including University of Missouri, University of Kansas and Brigham Young University.

Last year's Nutcracker production was at the Star Plaza, Merrillville, Indiana.



We aim to bring quality productions to Northwest Indiana at an affordable price.

We provide opportunities for students from surrounding areas to demonstrate their skills and fulfill their personal goals in dance in a professional environment.

There are scholarships available too.
